Hi, I'm new to the Oly camp here and I'm enquring about the E1 for my colleague.
He's thinking of getting the body but it seems it's not available at CP.

What's the price for a new E1 body these days and can the Oly folks here recommend online stores that does international shipping?
I was told that BH is sellling it at US680 excl shipping (another US60+).

Cheers, pc1

B&H is certainly recommended.

Thanks. Will Oly Singapore honour these cams in terms of warranty.
The prices at cameta is very attractive. Will share this with my coll and I may even get one :D

Why is E1 so popular when it's been around since 2003 (?) and there have been newer models lately....e300,e500 and noe e330.
How does the e1 compare to these new models. Is it really worth getting a e1?

:dunno:

Yes--International Warranty.

Cameta will not send to singapore. I asked them just 3 weeks ago.

Here is what I can think of, compared with the newer models, the E-1 offers these extras:
1. Larger and brighter 100% viewfinder
2. Pro-quality magnesium alloy full weather-sealed body
3. Better ergonomics, easy and fast access to almost all controls via buttons, dials and switches
4. Useful illuminated top info LCD
5. 3fps, large image buffer for up to 12 images, better continuous shooting
6. Inbuilt socket for shutter release cable
7. Inbuilt IR focus illumination
8. External WB sensor for very accurate auto WB

Use vpost or some other means.

how do one go about doing it? still don't understand the mechanism.

Using vpost saves $$$ but delivery could take longer as shipment has to go to a US address and then to Singapore. Vpost will consolidate all of its US shipments to Singapore thus saving its members $$$.

How much does the HLD-2 in Singapore costs btw?

Saw a post (http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=171706&page=3) saying S$400. Ebay search (http://www.ebay.com.sg/viItem?ItemId=7595405486) USD200+, and with shipping USD47 = USD247+ (approx S$400+)! Looks like no significant difference.

Hopefully someone can verify the local lubang asap.

(1) Yes, I went and asked Olympus showroom yesterday. hld-2 only is S$400 plus gst.

Then your colleague shld be able to receive it by now, if not soon. I
ordered from B&H before and their service is really superb !! Placed
order on Monday nite, goods received on Thursday noon by UPS priority.
Packaging all nicely done. After factoring in the shipping cost, GST &
misc charges, the items I bought still much cheaper than buying in
S'pore (saved S$200-$300).

B&H
