hello all,

im currently looking for a place to get a blazer+pants for an upcoming event.

can anyone recommend me a good place where i can get a decent suit for <$200? im thinking of G2000 or Robinsons.. but don't know about the quality.

what is the cheapest suit available in singapore?

regards,
jizeng

P.S. sorry, still young and blur. haha.

Try those from Domachi

Cheapest is dirt-cheap, but in general for suits/blazer/pants you pay for what you get. To be honest unless you're going for something really important, imho, Robinsons/John Little/G2000 should be more than sufficient. Unless you really have a tight budget, I would like to think that those places are the minimum. JL will be cheapest out of all of them.

Suits are different things from blazer/pants, btw.. =)

Izzit a one-off event? Or are u planning to wear it pretty often?

If its for a one-off event, u can rent the suit. Probably bridal shops or what, they might have suits to rent.

If u're expecting more of such events, u might wanna buy one. G2000 casual suits are quite ok. But if its for a black tie occasion, its not so appropriate so u might wanna go for a Double-Breasted Jacket instead which would cost in the range of $200 onwards.

U can check out Takashimaya, Tangs for suits.

G2000 is cheaper, by not by much.... I've seen their g2000 taka outlet selling a suit jacket and matching pants for $199 today. their range is limited and the sizes quite small, so do note if you normally buy clothing tailored for american/european sizes as the g2000 jackets are a tighter asian fit.

The Taka Mens' section also has sections for suit jackets, but their range is around $400 odd for a suit jacket plus pants.

I am not too sure whether JL actually sells suit jackets as i checked out their specialist centre and the new outlet next to orchard emerald and their mens' section doesnt stock suit jackets. You can try their new Marina Sq outlet though.

Robinsons and Marks&Spencer [Both @ centrepoint] have significant store space devoted to suit jackets too. Robinsons' selections are rather quite expensive... the cheapest i've seen was $320 for a suit jacket and pants combo [price already discounted 20% from 399]. And for some reason, Robinsons is always packed at peak periods, so do visit at offpeak times to ensure better service from their staff.

For me, I got a jacket for $250 and the matching pair of pants for $100 from M&S today and their fitting is good and not to mention the sales staff also know their stuff well. :)

for sch prom nite ar? else after the event gg to collect dust only
just rent one loh

I advise to get a proper set that you can always wear out whenever there is a need to. G2000 works well. good selection of shirts and ties to match whatever that they have on the rack. if you are aiming to look decent on an important occasion, nothing beats having a proper set blazer and pants.

won't a Tailor made one be cheaper?

G2000 is reliable but not outstanding/distinctive designs...

domanchi has more varied designs but look out for the fabric... some of it feels quite cheap... get those with better fabrics...

tailor made depends on who's making it... but it should definitely fit better...

like TMC says, get a good one that you can reuse later on... if looking for cheapest one just rent... that way a) you don't have to live with the suit if you don't like it, b) it should definitely be cheaper than buying one...

G2000/ U2 usually got those warehouse sales from time to time, clearing off season items. U should keep a good lookout for them.
