Where did you buy your digital cameras?

doing a writeup for school mag on digital cameras..where should one buy a digicam and what are the possibilities of an online purchase? take for instance, Sony Online?

I only make online purchases based on a few conditions.

1. Avalibility in the shops. If it's unavaliable in the retail shops, I'll order online. Usually for accessories.

2. Time. Often I have no time to go around hunting shop after shop for a particular item. If it's avaliable online and the price difference is not dramatic. I'll order the item online.

3. Price. If it's significantly cheaper online after factoring in the shipping cost. But it's secondary to avaliability. Sony online is an example of a lousy online shop. High prices and nothing unique.

for me is, normally if i dun have time to source, i would call my frens to help me look for it, then pay them if they help me get, or order thru online. or mayb join in preorder or MO.

for sony its kinda funny... cos the price offered by sony v8 or other sony shops, they sell at a premium, whereas u can get cheaper price from CP or AP.

If you are paying by full cash, no credit card, no cheque;
get it from dealer better, save you a few hundred dollars.

Sony online selling F828 @ $1816. I bought it for $1580 (with GST).

I trust more on photo retailers (specialist) that sell only cameras.. :think:

Yes... Normally I would go retailers selling cams only... however... since I need to pay via cc installment... Well... Still deciding.... Heh

yeah..i guess online purchase of digicams are just not there yet for the case of singapore...because we just simply love to bargain!! =P and stores outside really do offer better prices...
online purchase.....probably only works for accessories, maybe...and only if they are cheap and :thumbsup:

Retail shops are always nearby. Exhibitions happens once every few months. The online shops are rarely competitive. Even if the shop is competitive, it's an extension of a popular retail shop. End up it's faster and easier to pop on down and get the item.

My Retail shops very near. I only get SONY products. Why? due to I have the membership on services card...so is much cheaper when warranty is over. :sweat:

I usually buy all my Sony stuff from a shop call Parisilk and ebay (online) US e-sellers on cameras and HongKong e-sellers on batteries.
