Bringing my EF 20-35L + EF 28-135 :D

Tamron 28-200 XR :D

It depends on the location I'm visiting

Anyone willing to bring a EF 70-200mm f2.8L which weighs 1.4kg?

just came back from a trip last week: D60, 16-35 L, 70-200 IS L, 50 f/1.4, 550 EX, 1.4x II, 2x II TC.

Didn't use much of the 50mm though.

GR1s (28mm) or Summicron-M 35.

1. 17-35mm, 105mm, 2xTC and F5.
2. 35mm, 90mm and M7.
3. Assortment of filters.
4. Plenty of film!!!
5. Either the tripod or a beanbag.

Oeyvind, I have the same equipment as you minus the TCs. I'm planning for a trip maybe to Thailand next month and I think I will bring the same lens setup. But I hope to use the 50 f1.4 for night shots because of the lower f-stop. Btw, where did you go and how did you lug around all the heavy lenses?

Was in Melbourne, visited my brother and have my 1 week break there.

It's setup sounds heavy but the Kinesis Gears setup does make it bearable... I usually don't bring out the 50mm and TCs unless I know I need them. One more thing it's winter down under... not so tiring.

Didn't have 24-70 or 28-70 range as I find them not really useful on 1.6x crop body like D60.

Used to travel with a 28mm, 50mm and a consumer telezoom.

If given the chance to travel now, it'll be the 28mm, 50mm, 85mm and a 1.4x TC.

Travelled w EF 28-135IS. Good all-round package. But sold mine. Next trip prob GR1V; if i bring dSLR, it will be 16-35, 50/1.4, 75-300. 75-300 has added advantage of not being white. All will fit into one small sling camera bag w extra batt n CF card. XDrive pack seperately, prob leave in hotel.

If i intend to do serious shooting (as well as tour), it will be 16-35, 24-70 and 70-200/2.8, together w tripod. The 3 lenses + 10D still fit into one small sling bag, tho the tripod doesn't. The 3 hoods will stay at home though.

I once did.

1. Its not bad for shooting those occasional indoor shows that seems to prop up now and then in any tours

2. Its not bad for shooting gf when there's excellent scenic views as background

:p

Hi,

Are you very selective of what you shoot when using primes overseas?

I did the same gungho thing when I went to Canada recently. But the changing of lenses was killing me! In a handful of cases, I cannot get the exact composition I wanted also. In the end, I was suffering from withdrawal symptoms of a zoom and finally bought a 28-105mm there. Now I have prob selling it off here!!!

A big lesson I learnt.
