Hi!

I come across 'Salon Photography' and 'Fine Art Photography'. Are these two the same?

Thanks.

Cheers

As far as I know (and I don't know much) Salon photography is rather competition and exhibits of several genres of photography where fine art is one of the categories . Fine art is a genre of photography, mostly abstract and in B&W. In some cases I feel that what is claimed as Fine art looks like Emperor's clothes, but that's just my opinion. Just a "concentrated" version. You might want to google it for a more detailed explanation.

"Fine art photography" has no universally agreed meaning or definition: rather, it refers to an imprecise category of photographs, created in accordance with the creative vision of the cameraman.

"Salon photography" is immensely popular in this region, in particular among the Chinese community and it has a huge following worldwide.
