Hi guys just to check the opinions from you photographers.

Basically i'm planning to subscribe to a good monthly photography magazine which includes portfolios, techniques, price guide and any useful information.

What do you guys subscribe to and was it a good magazine? Or what is the most best common magazine that photographers subscribe to?

Thank you :)

for me as a beginner i'm more interested in local photography and wat my peers are doing. So i subscribed to the cheap cheap photovideoi

I suggest subscribe to National Geographic Magazine! I know it's not a photography magazine, but it has some really wonderful images and it's worth reading! :)

For photography magazines, Practical Photography is good.

I can't seems to find Practical Photography anywhere :dunno:

I find Digital Camera from malaysia a very good read. This month's edition got tutorial on HDR + lots of tips on taking portrait shots and editing them. Some more only rm 9 bucks

hi there, if u are a canon user u might want to check out "photo plus" (for canon users)
alot of canon tips. all guides are all using canon make and models for camera and lens.

For practical photography you can try borders, kinokuniya or compasspoint popular..

For subscribing to monthly magz can try www.allscript.com.. they are the magz supplier to most shops.. for 12 issues there's also a 10% off..

2nd that.....

I prefer UK Mag to US...... US tends to have more advertising than anything else..... and I think their 'Reviews' tends to be very Pro Company....

You can also get Practical Photography at a much cheaper price at Basheer, Bras Basah Complex. They sell it at $12. But copies are erratic.

Where can you get the malaysian edition of Digital Camera? Saw a guy reading it on the bus, but can never find it in any store in Singapore.

The malaysia edition of Digital Camera can onli be bought in malaysia i think.. so far haven't seen any on sale in SG..

Thanks for the info. Sadly, i think you can only get the Malaysian edition of Digital Camera in across the border...

As a Canon user, i subscribe to Photo Plus

Plus 2 other magz, What Digital Camera - good for latest cameras reviews and accessories

and

Photography Monthly - good for photography tips, projects and Photoshop tips. Includes CD on PS tips.

As another member mentioned, British magazines are better. More articles and less advertising. Also better quality paper and not el cheapo like the US ones.

I used to like Pracitical Photography but find them too pro Nikon. Sorry :(

Recently came acrosss another Brit magazine called Digital Camera which is also quite good. Can find in MPH (Raffles City).

You can check our www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk for subsciptions to some of the abovementioned magazines.

I know this might sound strange, but the magazine store at Holland Village has an amazing collection of magazines, and you can even try to request them to bring in magazines, even Malaysian ones, I think. I know they do it for foreign language magazines.

Their collection of magazines are comparable to Borders, I kid you not. On the way home tonight I'll pop by and check on Practical Photography, and Digital Camera (M'sia); then drop an update.

cheapo me... i borrow from the Library.:)

hmmm, maybe we can share or exchange?

there is certainly no shortage of photo mags.. Digital Photographer & Digital Camera World, on top of Practical Photography are my regular reads. i also found 2 other mags which are very relevant to us DSLR users - DSLR User & DSLR Photography but unfortunately its quite hard to find. other mags which i didn't quite like due to its 'inconsistency' are Digital Photo Pro & PC Photo. those which i find 'irrevelent' are Outdoor Photographer (since im stuck in an urban environment) and Shutterbug (too commercialised).

if you're looking for camera guidebooks, how-to books covering different genres of photography as well as pictorials, try Ricebowl at Funan, ground floor, which is a photography bookstore. but even Page1 (Vivo) and Books Kino (Orchard) have a comprehensive range of photography books. oh and don't forget Amazon too!
