Bring your camera and the heaviest lens you have to Cathay at Peninsula. Steven or Christ will be more than happy to help you pick one.

cool

wats this "ball head" thing for?

Whats a decent budget?

Ball head is the part that connects the camera to the tripod.. Usually its a ball, sometimes its like a thingy with a lever? =x

A good budget is 200-500? Depends on what you want to use lor. If you want to use a 18-55kit, or you want to use a 1200mm prime??

1200mm prime???

If only i have that money.

My heaviest/longest lens will prob be a 70-200.

Well, just get a good tripod for that would do. Carbon fibre? Would be good to get a ballhead if you're using that lens from my opinion. Makes it much easier to toggle your cam around. But of course the ballhead cant be those mini ones. Getting a good ballhead may also mean that it will cost more than the legs. ha. Happy choosing. =D

all else considered, make sure that the screw-in base to tripod attachment is EXTREMELY sturdy and tight.

mine once failed on me resutling in my first SLR breaking into two..
