What size filter for Nikon D5000 lens kit

I was wondering what is the size of the UV filter I should get for the Nikon D5000 default lens kit?

Please advise.

If the kit lens is 18-55mm, the filter size is 52mm

I will most likely start off with UV filter for outdoor shooting and later move on to other types of filters available for different effects.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah for now cos I am still trying to figure out how to use my D5000 properly. A long way to go and now also reading on photography books
