What hood are you using? Which model of the original Pentax hood can it use?

Seems like can only accept screw-ons as their is no bayonet thread...

There was a discussion on the same topic a few weeks ago.

just FYI, I bought the one in the 2nd eBay link, but it is not as deep as the one pictured in the last pic of creampuff's post

Yars.. I just got mine 1 week ago
Was delayed as they sent a Petal Lens Hood to me the first time which was a wrong one.
So in the end I got a Petal Lens Hood for free.. LOLS.

It isn't as deep as the one Creampuff posted.
The one Creampuff posted looks nicer....

Many would argue it's expensive. But finishing wise, it's one of the best and you only get it once. So might as well get the best.

Nah, my Pentax original matching screw on hood (RH-R49) is far better looking, and it's probably better built too ;)

Practically the China made ones (two hoods on the left) are pretty good, just $10sgd you'd have a free matching clip on cap:

I am using this original plastic square clip-on type, pretty nice feel and good quality too. I think it is one of the recommended hood from the manual.

I did try using the FA43 limited metal hood on the FA50 and work fine as well, but I think it is too costly to buy the metal hood and the cover.

I'd have to say that these ones are really good. So good that I have given up on all original hoods other than the one for the FA85. Metal, well made, cheap, deep enough, convenience of the hood cap just wins over most of the hoods.

The pentax caps are your own right ? don't believe they send them with pentax front caps , but with generic ones .
Bought one my self for SGD$10 with free shipping and its really good quality and about a week to deliver

If you really wanna buy front caps, go for these:

This is one of the best quality front caps I've ever had. You can find them in local stores like Manly :)

I bought it bundled w/ some other purchase, but individually they are selling around $10 or less I think, much better than those cheap cheap type I saw in some other shops or MO ones.

I bought a 52mm hood and it includes a cap for the hood

The link for the 49mm hood with a front cap ,bought my hood from him

Good price

But the 49mm hood comes w/ 52mm cap? Seems the hood would be too narrow? I'd go for the one w/ 58mm or 62mm cap ones, like the one I have in above photo :)

Saw this thread in Mass sales clubsnap.

It has the screw mount hood. But i'm not sure is it make of metal or plastic. You may have a look at it :D

The one i linked is about 20mm long so i don't think it will cause any vignetting .

Im using the 52mm one with a 58mm cap and my smc k50mm f1.4 has a 52mm filter thread and i don't see any vignetting
