Moral of the story: 400mm is TOO SHORT!

Yes, nice shots... 400 is definitely too short for birding, aside from large birds in flight (with the full wingspan to fill the frame).

Nice to see there are some wild birds left in Singapore, other than those kept in captivity! And other than the mynahs and ravens and crows of course...

Actually, there are quite alot of wild birds in Singapore, not as many as elsewhere, but plentiful if you know where to look. :D

yup, I've seen a <lot> of cattle egrets just hanging around school fields etc on weekends...

time to get a 1.5x TC (or 1.6x if u r the other brand) with no f-stop loss ;)

Huh? I thought the 1.4/1.5/1.6x ones loses 1 stop no?

Err...
How come the bird in the 1st pic has only 1 leg?

hehhehe

Anyway, I agreed with you that 400mm is too short in this case.
Time to buy a 400mm + TC, YS.....
Or better still, get the 600mm one!

You think I print money one har?

1.5x TC is called the D100
1.6x TC is called the D60

Better still, with magnifications of around the 2.5x mark, get the Silicon Technologies e-film or the early Kodak cameras.

small but nice pics though! lots of these birdies can be seen @ hougang area...
