Just draft out a mini poll....

dun be shy, honest reply please.

newbie dun pretend to be expert and expert dun pretend to be newbie!

Poll coming soon....

How to define expert? Until today I don't even dare to claim I'm advanced or amatuer. Newbie still suits me best. So I selected "Newbie".

Till the day I can answer 50% or know at least 50% of all the photography basics/theories, then I will move on ;)

can't answer... :bsmilie:
can i choose newbie, explorer, halfling and average them out? :bsmilie:

Just a casual shooter ...still learning

By your definition, I am a newbie. Still a student.

I think there are many gurus hidden here who teach photography in seminars and classes and have written books and articles on photography and are guru in their specialised areas.

piang eh... i think i am no where since i juz finally found something i can specialise.........

so erm.. i am newbie ?

Haven't shot for 3mths+... So its back to basics for me. :(

Well, looking back...

I used to use film p&s for a long time so I should be Baby as I still dunno what is shutter, aperture.

Then i shifted to DSLR and picked up some tippers from some experts here, so maybe now can say I am Newbie.

But I have been in DSLR for quite a while also, can I say i am an Explorer as I THINK i am midst of creating my own style

But my friends dont THINK so, so should I declare as Halfling?!

By now, I would like to see myself a Veteran...I have already established my own style...[of crap ahem].

I could be a Specialist too you know as I am really into a specialised area of photography..trading stuff on CS!

I tried my hands in my personal photo scrapbook and tried teaching my baby nieces and nephews (and their mothers) how to hold a camera properly, so i LIKE to think I am like Master Yoda.

However, i did so much trading and preaching that i begin to suspect if I am losing touch with the act of photography itself [like doing this now]...a Loser?!

Finally my life partner thinks that i am spending so much time in this that this whole affair of mine should be Retired, and just keep it as some VERY casual hobby.

Pls help me choose one option only. I am lost!

One cannot and should not judge oneself.

I love this! :bsmilie:

this is another funny poll as you can see that most of them claim they are newbies but can do paid jobs and shoot for company's events or when come to critiques, they can talk dragon talk phoenix or every word detailed in the manual or they have no confidence in themselves to be the level of what they are in photography or what some thread mentioned con artist/thieves?

hey! you're back, i was starting to get used to the peace... oh well...
welcome back!

I have been "doing" photography for only 4 years. (Correspond to the definition of "newbie")

I cannot do paid jobs. I cannot shoot for company (no company hire me anyway!).

But I can talk a lot about nothing.

I have no confidence in myself. So dare not show too much of my efforts.

Am I a newbie? :)
