What kinda lenses you will use for a full frame camera?

Just wanted to ask you guys..

What lenses would you attach to your full-frame camera it your shooting style is landscapes, family photographs.

I was thinking of a 24-70 or the 16-35(but i think this lens would be too wide)

what do you guys think.. Opinions and Comments pls..

For most times when I go out, all I bring is a 35mm or 50mm. When I shoot landscapes I use the 16-35. Hope this helps.

Landscapes, Sigma 12-24. Portraits, 50mm.

I used to own the 17-40 but still not wide enough in some cases and barrel distortion control not as gd, so Sigma's 12-24 for the ultimate UWA.

Hello hulkanaden, I find myself very much a 24-70mm person. Taking family photos and for my other genres. Too used to this lens already.
I am thus, nowadays, forcefully dragging myself away from the 24-70mm to mount my 16-35mm for my landscapes.

i'd usually go out with my 24-70 and 135mm. 17-40 if i'm taking landscapes. 70-200 if i'm at the beach.

If you want only one lens - 24-105f4
If you want a trinity of lenses for range coverage - 17-40f4, 28-70f2.8 (if you can find one), 70-200f4IS.
If you are making money from photography - 16-35f2.8 , 24-70f2.8, 70-200f2.8IS
If you want best of the best L way - 35L, 85L, 135L
If you don't mind 3rd party lenses - Sigma 12-24, Sigma 50f1.4, Sigma 70-300 OS
if you want best of the best alternate MF gears - CZ 21f2.8 , Leica 35f2, CZ 100f2

I will get the 17-40 F4 and a 50/85mm prime.
17-40 for things that can wait for you, and the prime for moving subjects, with or without flash.

Hi, personally I prefer 24-105mm f4 kit lens over the 24-70mm f2.8 mainly due to the longer size, wider focal lenght and 3-stops IS which is excellent for general purpose walkabout lens. I feel 24-70mm f2.8 is little too big and heavy without IS. I also owned the 35mm f1.4 which make a very good pairing with the 24-105mm when you need something a little faster or in a low light situation.

For me, it would be the 16-35 Mk2. And a 70-200 f4L IS in a modulous pouch if I want to bring a second lens...

Barrel Distortion on 16-35 is a subjective thing. My opinion is that Canon are not that good with WA 24mm and wider. Their flare control is also relatively weaker. But having said that, once you adapt to the lens, it will give you many memorable photos.

For lightweight, get an Olympus Zuiko OM 40/2. How heavy can a pancake be? MF though.

It is quite strong, but I correct it in photoshop. Here are some samples with the 16-35. First one's shot on a 5D, second one's shot on film, third and fourth ones are shot on a 1DII.

By the way, I strongly do not believe in a one-lens-fits-all-solution. I believe you have to pick the right lens for the right job, just like a carpenter does not use one tool for everything.

24-70 for street
35 or 50+/-mm for abstract
85 or 200mm for portraits

Personally, I usually go out with 24-70. And if I really want, I'll bring the 85 along.

24-70 kinda fits what I need to take when on a trip. But then again, its already quite heavy so kinda put me off bringing other lenses along.
