That's what I mean heh....wear many hats but one single pay. Last bonus....5 yrs back, last increment 8 yrs back. Alot of promises but so far apart from a fairly close pay to some one's 4K..I have not been able to break thru to 2.9million yet leh hehehehehe.... Thinking very hard about going back to being my own boss. When you think about the CPF fiasco and annuities....time to take my skills and go make my own money for me. But hey I can;t complain being a self taught , hands on man who is an "O leveler" and Dyslexic ;p

Actually there are becoming more and more people like me lah...it is becoming no biggie to have or try to hone as many skills as you can. What you lack in paper you try to back it up or justify your job or pay by adding more "added value" to it. That's just how you need to survive in Singapore

I have an overseas engineer friend, who clocks like 140 hours of OT a month. His company has a policy of 1.5x basic hourly rate pay for OT. So he's like earning OT pay equal to his basic salary. The downside of course is, no life at all.

I am definitely under paid. My basic salary now is S$1***/=. I have been recieving my appraisal letter for over a few years with this statement : In Line of the company's policy, there will be no change in your salary at this point of time. This does not reflect any unsatisfactory performance.
I am now over 40++. I have been working in this company for over 10 years. I have been very loyal to them. I have even taken up my part-time diploma few years ago. No promotion after getting the diploma. I still stay on hoping some miracle will happen to me....:sticktong
I am sure there will be a lot of people asking me to quit the job. Any guarantee that I will get a job over $2500/= with the starting salary at the age 40+++?

Technician.
In my case, I can kiss my retirement age "good-Bye" now.
With this kind of standard I am in now. I can't think of otherwise. :sticktong
20 years later, you will see any other old man (that will be me!!!) :bigeyes:doing his job in the hawker centre clearing the table and maybe washing the toilet.

Its an average..hence its not so accurate..for instance sample size of 10 ppl
6 of them get 10k
4 of them get 3k
So average will be 7.2k

But at least its a good gauge how far u r away from the top earners.

i understand ur case..most companies value ppl wif experience..not ppl who's experience come from working many years in a same company..and this is a very sad fact..a young dude who always job hop can change job every 2 years..and reach a managerial post on his 4th job..but this kind of ppl wouldn't have any leadership/human resource qualities..

this is highly unlikely, a technician in his 40s, the experience and the age will actually work against him. you will be surprised how many applications we had like him. All will be asking for the basic pay of $2k+. In HR sense, it is an immediate reject. even though the applicant has met all the minimum requirements and more.

what most employers will be kind and go along with the interview process. this is the reality now. "pls lower your expectations."

oic ...technicians wont be earning alot but i think since he is a diploma holder and with that many years of working experience, he should consider switching line. but no harm trying right? :)
