A camera (with Macro lens)
Flash or lighting
tripod or monopod to stabilise

And a good eye for macro...

You need a camera setup which allow you to take closeup or macro shots and recommend to use a flash to fill-in and a tripod for slow/still life.

- Sigma 105mm macro
- Nikon 105mm macro
- Canon 100mm macro

Telephoto lens:
- 70-300mm
- 75-300mm
- 70-200mm
- 100-300mm

- 300mm

Closeup Filter

If only 1 person says, then it's a guess or personal opinion.

If 2 persons say the same thing, then it's just a rumour.

If 3 persons say so, then there must be some truth in it.

If many people say so, then it's a fact.

so what do you say?

make it have some truth :)

As you said, as above for basic set up.

Lens : Scale of magnification (real life size vs physical image size on sensor) and ability to focus near.

the most basic is to get a close-up filter, if one not enough, stack a few more.. thought it's compromise image quality...

keep some close-up filters along with your macro lens for those 'tight situations'.

You are lucky, the Macro SiFus (ortega & Megaweb and maybe the rest too) replied to yr question.

Make that 4 to ditto the 1st answer. Camera + Macro lens + flash + tripod

Another thing you need is a keen eye to spot the macro subjects. On my 1st few trips, i have hard time finding them. Now i can see them everywhere. haha
