IT as in information technology i presume? doesn't that simply mean marketing of IT products and services? don't tell me there's another more complex, "cheem" definition...

or maybe marketing a certain product or services through IT?

it could be a stockbroker doing transaction with a PC. Beware of all this eyes-catching job position in the newspaper. They might want you to pay for a $10,000 fees if u want to join their company.

Its the marketing of a company's Tried and True, Proven Best Known Methodology for implementation of Information Technology in the workplace.

For example, if a company has experience in implementing VPN access for its own 1000 employees, it may want to "market and sell" its expertise in the form of consultancy and even up to providing implementation to others who are looking at the same technology.

Just one example - others may be in implementation of Intranet applications, e-biz backend apps, data exchange and repositories, even methods for rollout of OS/software upgrades.

These days, some IT depts are considered Profit Centres and must generate $$$ for the company whether by internal charges or in this case, external marketing.
