What is CS??????

When i first come here, i thought can learn from master.
Then i realise that most are amature, some pics really cannot make it.

So i thought CS is a learning ground, where ppl can learn.
Then i realise alotta master dun share, cos its secret.
So ammature goota learn mostly by hit and run.
Of course got ppl willing to share, but not much.

So i thought CS is a base for ppl to meet, amature to learn from each other.
Then i realise its always that same bunch of amatures together.

So i thought, CS is for what?

Now for me, CS is a place to buy things, sell things, and sometimes see ppl post pics that are lousy. So i can laugh. By me only. CS is also a place for me to see great marco, landscapes, and i enjoy kopitiam, always see ppl argue till red face, also dun noe for what, popcorns time!!!

This is what i though of CS.

I have put my piece on what is CS, u can say ur piece, just dun need to slam me, as that is what i see.

I came to CS from some links in hardwarezone.
so it all started as a Buy & Sell website, i think

Agree & Disagree on some. But the B&S part is true. Did made some friends here. Since I come as a newbie, I learn a lot of general info from here, though direct or indirectly. But indeed those top secret are hard to get by  It's understandable though, who would like to share much of their money making tricks.

Of course we won't slam you.

Imagine you are a professional. Would you post your photos in CS? Probably not. Why? Because a lot of amateurs will nitpick your photos and turn it into trash. "Messy hair, amputation, your photos are selling sex etc". They don't go into the technical part to help you improve because they don't know how to. Mostly just nitpick about how the models look. Some will even classify you as idiot, racist etc. Why go through all these if you are a professional and spoil your reputation?

CS is a good place to meet people and buy stuff. If you really want to learn more, go out, have tea and make friends with the good photographers.

You choose what you want CS to be.

It is not really about being pro (defined as you relying on photography to put food on the table), amateur or beginner, or posting and getting slammed around a bit. A beginner can take a fantastic photo; pros have taken plenty of trash behind that one defining picture.

If you think a photo posted by so-and-so is fantastic, then don't let the logic of others influence you. Knowing the technical aspects of whatever type of photography are fine and all that; what's more important are the emotions evoked by that picture.

Geniunely there are CSers out there who really want to share knowledge and learn from each other. You just have to filter out the music from the noise.

Smurfman, do keep your chin up and don't lose faith in CS.

It should be all about sharing.

Nothing wrong with having amateurs mar. If no amateurs then how the pros look good. =D
(Honestly, I'm only saying this because I'm an amateur :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:)

It's just an online forums. Relax, doesn't have to be an Utopian kingdom. Heh.

U noe got alot ppl dun understands???

A long time ago came a man on a track
Walking thirty miles with a pack on his back
And he put down his load where he thought it was the best
Made a home in the wilderness
He built a cabin and a winter store
And he ploughed up the ground by the cold lake shore
And the other travellers came riding down the track
And they never went further, no, they never went back
Then came the churches then came the schools
Then came the lawyers then came the rules
Then came the trains and the trucks with their loads
And the dirty old track was the telegraph road

Then came the mines - then came the ore
Then there was the hard times then there was a war
Telegraph sang a song about the world outside
Telegraph road got so deep and so wide
Like a rolling river. . .

And my radio says tonight its gonna freeze
People driving home from the factories
Theres six lanes of traffic
Three lanes moving slow. . .

I used to like to go to work but they shut it down
I got a right to go to work but theres no work here to be found
Yes and they say were gonna have to pay whats owed
Were gonna have to reap from some seed thats been sowed
And the birds up on the wires and the telegraph poles
They can always fly away from this rain and this cold
You can hear them singing out their telegraph code
All the way down the telegraph road

You know Id sooner forget but I remember those nights
When life was just a bet on a race between the lights
You had your head on my shoulder you had your hand in my hair
Now you act a little colder like you dont seem to care
But believe in me baby and Ill take you away
From out of this darkness and into the day
From these rivers of headlights these rivers of rain
From the anger that lives on the streets with these names
cos Ive run every red light on memory lane
Ive seen desperation explode into flames
And I dont want to see it again. . .

From all of these signs saying sorry but were closed
All the way down the telegraph road

Those 'top secrets' are available online and by various experimentation.

For example. In my 4 years of photography, I probably read through a heck load of threads from other forums, spent $200 on books alone as well as dig for information on wikipedia, and just finished spent $2000 on a 6 months accredited course on photography. I find the books contain most of the basics that allows you to put togather everything. If you can spend so much money on a camera, why not at least a couple of books?

A forum is no place to find 'secrets'. Nobody teaches anybody photography on any photographic forum unless its a specific question needing a specific answer. I find to properly teach anybody any techniques it's better face to face rather than an open forum where anything could be intepreted.
