So is photography part of art? why is it so?
Photographs are mediums of expression of creativity
Art: the creation of beautiful or significant things (define:art, google)
It create a memories that we human sometime can't remember or record with our mind, to see what is being beautiful not just by our eyes but also with our heart, we see not with our eyes but also with our souls, we can never remember much things or we tend to forget certain things, that why this images are create to leave memories to remind us of certain things. Art is just creation of what human sees with the soul and eyes or sometime i call imagination or even recording(painting,drawing, etc...) some historical monuments and human's portraiture.

Art Photography - A simple term for "Fine Art Photography". Anything which is strange and usual, that involves an idea that you want to convene to the public, can be defined as ''Art Photography''. This art form consists mainly the artists' idea or anything that involves contemporary issues to almost anything under the sun. Wrong techniques or unsharp pictures - seen by others as pictures cannot be used - is often used by art photographers.
That does not mean all art photographers used the blur pictures. Art Photography can be used by various mediums such as type of prints, type of technique, style of execution and style of presentation to the public to convene his/her idea. To sum it up, Art Photography is usually the type of photography the artist wants to tell the public, to use some materials as metaphorsis in relation to the artist's eccentric idea. Not many people like art photography as usually, things that most art photographers like, not many other would agree. If people like his works, approached the artist for sales, then it becomes a sales of artwork, which in turn become commerical photography.
Commercial Photography - A simple term for it, it means "Sales of Photography" - to make $money$ out of photography. This is what most professional photographers do. Work full time from photography to generate income. It can be anything from food, industrial, corporate, wedding, event, advertising, still life, glamour, fashion...etc still a lot more to name.
After shooting, usually pictures are in turn, transformed to other media such as advertising campaigns, design, outdoor media, finished products and other forms of public advertising media then in turn generate income for photography after the sales of these products. Usually, the photographer work closely with the graphic designer/creative director/art director so that clients' requests can be interpreted into works of photography.

because we get too obsessed with non photography related things.

CS is just a forum for all photographers to gather and chit chat. Where got such thing as CS photographers?
Unless CS is promoting some specific principals and ideals towards photography and it's members are following it.
Well, i was talking to some photographers that are doing let say in school or even outside, the first thing when mention CS, they will go: WOAH! so many pervert in CS, well..of course no offense to those photographer that are doing wedding or even fashion shoot, there are people who use CS or even spoilt market claiming as "Professional Photographer" taking up-skirt of girls? well you know i know, this is not aiming at anyone or any particular person, just generally put what i have heard from outside. Just to share.

Art is the expression of the mind to a certain level. It can be express the emotion of the artist (clearer in musical,painting art although some good photography work can do the same), or it can be the expression of the ideas, statements such as concept photography, fashion, documentary . Furthermore art can convey the artist feeling,idea to people, it can even influent people , this is one area photography work well in , photograph can be easy to be captured,reproduced, manipulated, and have a sense of reality,truth which add impact compare to other form of visual art in term of express idea, statement.
Photography is just a medium, camera is just a tool ,technique is how well you use the tool. it's a form of visual art.
Obsess with the tool --> cameraman/collector class, or well.....CSer/DPer/ nothing bad actually, camera is a piece of art
Obsess with technique --> Technician class,expert... ,need to add soul or idea.
obsess with expressing idea --> concept artist which nobody understand, self proclaim artist sometimes, can use the name of art to deny/defend one delusion. .
Obsess with the subject --> depend on what type of subject, can range from pervert to normal
Align the tool,the technique,the heart,convey what touch your heart or what your heart speak ,express through the technique, and the tool, that's is art. Of course need to reach a certain level...
THrough observe, art usually need a guideline,principles, a form of self restraint and release. One type of priciple a lot pudding photographers need is self critic and strike for better,perfection . Delusion create delusional art (crap with anti critic label)
