What goes into a Photo?

I'm wondering for the past 24hrs.... What goes into a photo to make it a... photo?

Izzit... The memories that the photo was made frm (regardless how bad its going to be)? The Moment that was captured? How well the photo was taken?

Which is it? Especially for experienced event and wedding photographers who took photos for others (as well as others coming to u with their fully-automatic cams and asking u to help them take a photo and u know its going to be real bad), what do u think?

From a simple standpoint view:

1) A photo must tell a story

2) serve its intended purpose

3) It has a meaning for something

The above are essential in documentary work such as weddings, events etc. A photograph has no right or wrong considering what goes in.

Capturing images as a hobby or as an Art form you
are the boss with the final say. However with specific
assignments like weddings, fashion and so on this rule
does not apply. More so when the clients are paying
for the assignments.

that's why I never shoot for anybody other then, I, me and myself. 3 clients too many already.

someone once said: a photo can be any combination of the following:-

1) Observation
2) Imagination
3) Expression

As for paid assignment like events/weddings, the client either like the above 3 points from that particular photographer or the photographer use the above 3 points to get what the client wants.:think:
