Do you think local museums will or should have an exhibition around this theme ?

I don't think she is disturb by the porn but by the fact that the endangered species bone is use for art work openly :(

This makes endangered species protection law look like a joke :(

Ermmm, you do realise that these carvings were from over a century ago, right? A time when the whalers were as endangered as the whales.

Ms. Owen says her museum can’t guarantee that all of its scrimshaw is from genuine 19th-century whale; some pieces may have been crafted more recently, by unscrupulous artisans and fakers, and then made to appear “aged.”

I hope you read the last statement :)

i actually have a collection of killer whale and walrus tusk schrimshaws from more than 30 years ago .... they were mostly from the stores along Change Alley who sailors traded with russian watches and cameras and all sorts of weird stuff

too bad its all gone now

she was just turned on by the number of hard bones in the collection :)

I guess she's unable to explain the topic to her kids, that's why she started the jihad to have the pieces removed before her kids reach the 'critical age' :)
