Wedding Videography Packages

I tried looking around for similar threads but the last one that I found was back in 2008. Since it is 2015 and going 2016 soon, I would like to understand how the rate/charges goes for wedding videography.

Firstly, I know videographers have to charge clients/customers for their services on the day of event and next comes the editing charges. But other than these two, what other charges are to be included? For example, do you feel that clients/customers have to pay for your transportation fees? Rental of equipment (if any)? Etc?

The reason I am asking is because I am only starting out in freelance wedding videography and I do not know how should my clients/customers be charges. As for the invoice, do I have to write down what they will be paying for or just the overall amount to be paid?

I normally agree on a flat fee with the client which already includes fees for work done and expenses for transport and administrative work. do not expect clients to take you seriously when you list down transport and equipment rental as an extra expense.

agree with Deunamist, you should work that into your cost, cos is the basis necessity, nobody interested to know how you work out your rate except your book keeper.
unless your customers ask you to use high speed camera or use a cherry picker for the shoot, than you can list equipment renting as additional cost.

yup, only exception is when highly specialised equipment comes into play. anyway some additional input from my end. all my own equipment, from my camera to my lenses to computer usage and even my hard disk space, has a unit price (which I won't reveal to anyone outside my team). this price I use to compute the cost price. from this cost price I then add in my own profit and the admin charges as specified above. this is how I formulate a quotation now, and is probably the best system that works for me.

Invoice wise, it will be good to place the overall amount chargeable and then state what is included in your videography package. This is so that it is clear what the package includes for the amount that the customer is paying for. It also helps lessen any explanation needed as to why a certain part of your package is more expensive than the other.
