Hello Everyone..

I am considering between Olympus 550WP and Fujifilm Z33WP.

I already own a dSLR and a non-waterproof compact camera.
Seeking to purchase a smaller compact camera with waterproof feature.

Since Waterproof is my main criteria, compactness is 2nd. Hence the two models I'm stuck between.

Would like to know more on the Pros and Cons of both brands on their compact camera range.
And perhaps the reason why would you prefer your decision.

Appreciate your time spent on helping out. :)

Thanks

not too sure abt fujiflim waterproof camera, vote for Olympus becuz i think they are quite specialise in waterproof P&S...

u have more choices now. Canon just released theirs. looks pretty cool.

i have a oly waterproof now, not that i have a choice back then. only oly had them. Noise control is not oly's best feature. suggest u try fuji or canon.

yo! this is my most honest opinion.
i've own a olumpus 790sw before, and it sucks, as in the optic quality just cannot make it.
for fujifilm cameras, i had also tried their compact camera, also CMI.

I know Lumix had just released a new waterproof cam, should be quite good since its from panasonic, not sure if it used leica lens as well.
Canon should be ideal too.
And if you can afford it, you can get a sony compact with a waterproof housing, the optics quality is just superb. can go deep too!

I didn't get to check the prices of the Canon new launched.
My idea to get a 2nd compact cam is for waterproof and a more petite camera.
Panasonic's waterproof Lumix isn't in my price budget. At Best Denki, It's going for $649.

Will go check out the Canon's one tomorrow for the price. thanks for the recommendation.
But Between Oly 550WP and Fuji Z33WP, Which one would you pick?

Why not consider Olympus' other waterproof ones? Recently, I've been looking at waterproof cams too, and I like that the Olympus Tough 6000/8000 is relatively shock-proof. And with a silicone skin wrapped around it, if I go to the beach or Wild Wild Wet, I have no qualms about tossing the camera to my friends for them to take some shots... at least then I'll be in some pictures. =) Furthermore, there have been some reviews saying that the Tough 6000 and 8000 have image quality far better than the 790SW, which, as Mr123 said, sucks big time.

As for the 2 cameras you singled out, it's a tough choice. There doesn't seem to be much difference to nit-pick, and hence, I might actually go for the Fuji, since it claims that it's the smallest. I have to say I love Olympus' HyperCrystal LCD though... really really bright and pleasant to use. Not sure if it's found on the 550WP though.

Hope this helps. =P

are you sure fujifilm IQ cannot make it?

well if i were to choose, i will go for the olympus den, the fuji camera don't look promising althought i had never even touched it before. ha. my old 790sw has this LED lightup function which is very useful, as macro ligthtup, or even as a touchlight. dunno if the 550 has it

I suggest TS to try out the various models personally. I have tried both Canon D10 and Olympus Stylus 1030SW and really don't like the IQ. I bought a casing for my canon IXUS 860IS instead.
