The other day one of my friends told me her picture was posted in this website called photoforum.org w/o her consent. and it was a pesonal photo she had scanned and sent to friends.

the photo itself has nothing graphic, but the comments were nasty and lewd.

And i thought to myself thank god it's not me.

guess what.

i just discovered guy had leeched photos off my pbase website and posted 3 photos into this website. And i have a prob reg into this website in order to priv msg this guy to ask him to remove it.

Just a warning. I took a risk posting pics of my friends and i together, in a bid to share my photos with loved ones. And it was taken and placed else where w/o my consent. Ironic it seems that i've taken pics of strangers w/o their consent too.

This sucks becuz my friends that are in those pics will not be happy...they were posted online becuz they thought it would be only in my website.

You could notify this to the moderator or CTM..
They will take action against that person...:)

Hi

unfortunate that some people have to do things
to violate others

maybe you could make it such that no one can
download or save anything from your website -
I've been to websites where if I click on
something and try to save it, a message pops
up asking me to e-mail the webmaster

anyone know how to do this?

by doing that , it's just harder to save the pics.

however as long as the pictures can be viewed , then it sure can be saved....

Make a disclaimer page , saying that the pics are owned by you and not be to used without permission, etc.

then mark all your photos with your nick/name and the disclaimer site address.

just a suggestion. :)

anything you put on web cant prevent people from taking your pics away, that's the risk you have to take, even the IE context features (where you right click and popup a message), people just need to use mozilla or opera and this features will be disable..

the only way i know is to create a macromedia flash, but it's still not perfect

http://202.172.225.38:2830/user/hongwan/redhillnight.swf

people can still do a screen print and crop the area away :D

The pics were taken off my pbase website....How to set disclaimer??? yeeesh...

and i have to reg in that forum to post a priv msg to that guy but the prob is i reg, but the webbie didnt email me the password so i can't log in.

Anyway this guy seems to have a fetish of school girls. it's just photos...but the prob is it's also of my friends, and the comments can be bad and lewd...I have to apologise to my friends for having their pics posted onto such a website that is pretty much like soft-porn. sigh...

There are many photosharing sites which allow you to specify private or public galleries, and require passwords for private galleries, which you can send to friends. This reduces the chances of your personal pictures being copied and posted to other websites.

But come on, stop posting pictures of people?

I think if there were only pictures of buildings and animals and landscapes on the internet, I wouldn't need an ISP...

Never say stop what. haha..i know u take street pics...i'm juz saying it on a more personal level. Becuz now i have alota explaining to do with my friends! anyway i've contacted the website moderator...so i hope he does something about it. Also taken the advice of you guys and posted a "please contact owner for permission" notice to the pics on my pbase site...manually.

Still...it's quite scary now isnt it? hehe...

scary?
erm like hello? you mean you only just discovered the downsides of the anonymous and free nature of the net?

the no right click stuff is crap. just click Source under View and the codes are for all to see. People can just retrieve the image links from there. Plus there's always 'print screen'.

if your friends are game enuf to have their pics posted on the web, they should be prepared to have maniacs copy/paste/link/save/manipulate these images. unless they have the means to sue for copyright. even then, the lines in between are still blurred.

Nope. Always known the risks of the internet. Been online for the past 6 yrs, and believe me, i've had the strangest experiences. My topic said "warning", it's a reminder to everyone what is posted online is pretty much free for all. And also to remind all of us to be mindful of the pictures we choose to publish onto the net of pple and property, as innocent as it may be.

Juz saying that it's scary how things can get away from you,as food for thought. if u wanna make me sound like i'm being stupid than fine. My friend didnt post her pic anywhere and it ended up there. Perhaps her friends fwd it elsewhere, or maybe even her email was intercepted. Either way, i meant for thread to be food for thought. Many of the girls featured on that website was also taken a picture of secretly. Pics of girls sitting on trains, in shopping centres etc. Often those girls are not taken in a very flattering angle. (eg; a group of tkgs girls standing along the railing, pics with a glimpse up a girls skirt on the train). My friend's picture was taken of her with a small child posing for the camara, when it got onto the website the comments turned a truely loving picture into something distasteful, hateful and truely disgusting.

In this forum site, pics are taken tastefully, and for the love of photography. Read the comments posted in THAT site, it's really not nice.

And for your info, i didnt say anything bout the right-click stuff, so don't criticise me for something i didnt suggest. Printing screen? Prints are harder to distribute than digital pics via internet. think of the one million hits that particular website gets every month. And prints do not recieve lewd comments posted up for another 1-2million visitors to see. And if it's a digital print, than well at least we TRIED to prevent it, right? That particular individual must be really up to something to go through all that trouble.

"if your friends are game enuf to have their pics posted on the web, they should be prepared to have maniacs copy/paste/link/save/manipulate these images. unless they have the means to sue for copyright. even then, the lines in between are still blurred."

I agree with that, but just becuz you've taken the risk into consideration, doesnt mean you should let the person that have manipulated your photo get away with it. I've reacted to this by contacting the web mod to remove the pics. Hopefully he would be able to do so, if he doesnt than too bad i guess. Stuff like that can only die off with time.

Like i said, only food for thought, no need to sound so flabbergasted over someone who to you sounds SO stupidly naive.

Uh, printscreen = screenshot. Not literally printing out...

Not quite true, there are a couple of technologies available that make it all but impossible to steal images, either by linking, printing, screen dump/capture or cache trawling etc.

However the downside is the price. $900 USD plus in one case and in another $3.00 per image.

dunno why that guy got fetish over schoolgirls also, we're all gawky and awkward. haha. :p

go school liao!! cya

Hmm.. punscum.. I understand how your friend feels. (IMHO) The site is an unehtical site. The poster might have posted her/his photos to share it with her/his friends. It is meant to be a "Private" thing, meaning the act invloves lots of trust in her/his friends that all those photos are meant for them and them only. It would be utterly dissapointing if one of her friends send it to forums of this sort for "opinions" or "Exhibition". ;(

*Haiz* The bottomline is, not all photographers or people in the broadest sense are ethical. :(

whats IMHO ?

oic...how come i post this thread got so much response...when i post pics all no comment...sigh... oh well...i told all the pple involved bout the pics liao..they seemed quite alright with it...
