ah_bao said:Hi everyone.. i dunno much abt cameras..wanna get a DC for normal use.. dun need to get those like 5.0 mp one rite ?? is 3mp enough ?? just for normal use.. like go out with friend, or for occasions.. any recommendations ??
is Minolta Dimage XT good ??
ivan said:hi ah_bao,
so roughly how much is ur budget?
dennisc said:Read up on cams before u buy and narrow down to the best ones. Look at the photo samples c if its to ur liking. Since u can easily get a good 4mp cam with more features (maybe not so compact) with 400+ too.
Minolta XT is a 2003 model and discontinued if its selling around 400+ then they're clearing their stocks, hmm it's a good price. Up to you, look around, for me I'll steer clear from Casio, Panasonic models though, noisy watercolour nightshots (from experience).

ah_bao said:I see there are Minolta XG and XT... whats the different ?? the spec seems not bad to me.. 3xoptical zoom, 4x digital zoom... I saw Best selling at $499...Minolta XG...
Actually i saw auction got pple selling abt 400, Minolta XT in Black.. come with extra battery and camera case, good deal ??
plinius said:try shops like MS Color, Alan Photo, Cathay Photo, John 3:16 for better pricing........
cheers.........
ah_bao said:where are all those shops ?? hee
dennisc said:XT=2003 XG=2004 sounds good if u intend to get the tiny cam, note the XG is a downgraded version of XT (read the reviews). If u want more features, power, flexibility and quality u can stick to the canon ixus and A series A75 80 etc selling around the same price. Worth a look before u finally decide.
I'll say sgd400 for a 1 -2 yr old camera isn't that good a deal since who knows when it might KO, shortened lifespan etc
I'm not pro but I just believe in getting one's $'s worth.
plinius said:do a search and u will get ur answer...but since me very free...me give u some of it here:
MS Color -> www.mscolor.com.sg -> call the AMK branch
Alan Photo -> SLS and Funan
John 3:16 -> Funan
CP -> www.cathayphoto.com.sg
ah_bao said:I wan slim slim one... jus now went Mustafa.. Minolta XG $410 free 128 SD ram card...
afbug said:If you dun mind movie without sound, maybe X31? Cheaper i think. XG and XT not bad. I own a little X20. Quite a nice cam to play with. :bsmilie:
Slim slim ones:
Sony DSC-T3, T33, T1 and T11. DSC-L1 quite slim too.
Ixus 30 and 40.
Minolta X series.
Panasonic FX 7
Pentax Optio S series
Before you buy, read the reviews 1st. Dun lazy!

afbug said:You are welcome. Din notice your budget, some of the cams above are out of your budget.
Within or near your budget:
Sony DSC-L1.
Ixus 30
Minolta X series.
Pentax Optio S series
Its a bit weird that the new Minolta models are downgrades of its older models. Eg: X20 (Older 2MP): movie with sound and X21 (Newer 2MP): movie without sound. Cut cost? :bsmilie: This is the reason i chose the X20 over X21.
ah_bao said:then XT got sound or not ar ?? I read before like dun have leh... XG got ? hee
afbug said:Told you to read liao. ;( No sound? You read from where? :bsmilie: Both have la. XG cannot use cradle and no A/V output while XT have.
But XG: Motion video 320 x 240 with audio at 30fps, while XT: Motion video 320 x 240 with audio at 15fps, unlimited length.
Enjoy your reading, i go zzzZZZzzz liao...
