Wah liew, cigarette prices went UP again !!

Wah...the info given by my friend few days ago is very accurate..he said that the price for tobaccos will increase by $0.50 for small packs & $1.00 for big packs.

i didn't believe it at first...but luckily i went to get 4 cartons @ one of the kopitiam(no harm buying some backup packs)...heheh and now saved $40.00

the small packs from $3.40 went up to $3.90 now.

Bigger packs from $6.70 to $7.70 now...


i think next few yrs cigarettes will be $10.00 for small packs

$22.00 for king size....

yes, i was shocked when the uncle told me marlboro menthol light big one increase by one dollar..........:(

i think it went something like this.
garment last year up taxes (which is a function of the weight of tobacco).
so marlboro reduced the tobacco weight in their sticks.
therefore tax came down.
so now garment dowan to play with tobacco weight, they tax based on number of sticks.
something like that.
time for marlboro to make 1 big pack with 1 big stick inside.
 

So I guess now is one BIG stick like cigar... and can resmoke...:bsmilie:
 

This all becos of the influx of low price cigarette from China. :angry: Shouldn't allow this to be imported in the first place.

This word had said more than 10 year every time price gone up.....:dunno:
 

one of my main motivations to quit last time was the bloody price!...very low elasticity of demand so even tho taxes etc cause the price to rise by alot, demand falls by v little...

By reviewing above: I think the government want us not to smoke in the country but not outside the country when travelling. Is that so?
