Wacom Graphire or Intuos-3?

hi,
i've just discovered the Wacom tablet products... and am thinking of getting one to enhance my Photoshop experience.

What do you folks think...
I'm contemplating getting a basic Graphire 6x8 , or the Intuos-3, 6x8 ...
the Intuos costs a lot more, but it DOES come with stuff like the Photoshop Elements-3 which I'd like to have for mac since my photoshop is on PC...
and a (rather useless) mouse.

Do you folks think its worth shelling out for the Intuos, or would the Graphire be adequate?

Another thing, would 6x8 be a lot more comfortable than the 4x5?

size wise 6x8 is good... 4x5 a bit too small, any bigger than 6x8 a bit of a pain to navigate (whole arm moves quite a lot)...

As for intuos or graphire, i've heard that there's not much noticable difference.. but I got the intuos2 in the end... no regrets...

funan is a good place to start. i believe challenger superstore has a whole shelf of wacom products. the other shop is PK Computers in funan. smaller range, somewhere at the back of the shop where they sell cables and other computer peripherals.

Got a Graphire 6x8 and 4x5.. so far so good. Just love it.

Size wise, you can configure your workspace in Wacom software to segment your tablet into working regions which comes in handy in various situations (use your imagination). So bigger is better if space is not an issue

I have more or less decided on the 6x8 size as the best compromise ... question is,
graphire , or intuos-3 ... hmm, what do folks think?

Intuos 3 should be a better tablet than the graphire in terms of specs. Should you decide to get serious, it will be able to accomodate your interest at a deeper level.

if u are serious and can spare the cash then it's intuos.. no doubt abt it... at most u don't like it can always sell it off 2nd hand for a decent price...

no info.

Mmmm, i know about the active area (contact area) but I
mean the total physical area.
I.e. length x breadth of the tablet. I need that to check whether
my comp table can accomodate the tablet comfortably.

Mmmm, Cyberian, thanks for the info.

As noted before, I am aware of the active area.
I.e. I am considering the 4x5 and 6x8 of Graphire and Intuos.

However, the actual physical area of the tablets are not shown in that
website.

As we know,
the Intuos
6x8 has two sides of touch strips and
4x5 has one side

Graphire does not have touch strip.
I understand the contact area of Graphire (6x8) is not actually 6" by 8",
it is 5.9" x 8.2" (somewhere around there)

In summary, I am not looking at the contact area, but the total surface
area (length and breadth), or desktop real estate of this device.

seems like Graphire is smaller than Intuos with
the same contact area....
