Hi,
I have a 52mm to 58mm step up ring.
I intend to use a 58mm cir PL on my canon 50mm f1.8 Mk II lens. The lens already has a UV filter attached. Is it advisable to do so? Will it cause any vignetting?
My filters are all the normal types, not HMC....etc...
Thanks for any advice.

It's not advisable to stack filters as they may cause vignetting.
It happened to me when I used my brand new Hoya Cir-PL for the very first time.
I had dark corners in my pictures.
I thought the polarizer was a piece of sh*t until I realised the UV was still on my lens.:bsmilie:

The only way is to try it out, it all depends on the combo, it is a good idea to combine a larger filter on top of the first. Not always will it end up in vignetting, just try it out, and take a shop of the sky with your lens at the closest distance and use the smallest aperture.......
