Hi,

I am going to vietnam from 13th June to 21st June.

Currently visiting: Sapa, Halong Bay, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.

Any recommendations that are the must go places for photography. Sceanic and Cultural shots of lifestyle among the natives?

Regards

Hey Shin,
If you plan to get more cultural shots, please make sure you spend more time in SaPa. its a great place to explore. go for trekking to Lau Chai, Tavan, and other villages. there are few tribes living in different villages, if you interested, you can do homestay in village, they have the accomodation for tourist in Tavan. make sure you ask their permission before you taking their pics, at least smile to them (not available for candid =P) Some of them still believe that pictures can take away their soul. Silver waterfall in SaPa will be good for scenic, and a long the way to the villages, you'll see great view. If you plan to do tough trip, you can go to Fansipan. For hotel, i highly recomended Boutique SaPa Hotel, its good value hotel with excelent service. Bring some school stationeries with you because: 1. they need it either for themself or their kids 2. it will save you from the ladies/cluster that following you along the way to sell their souvenir.

Ha Long Bay is beautiful, specially if you good in taking landscape pics. you might consider to stay in 1 of the island. kayaking there is one of the recomended activity.

Hanoi and HCM are interesting, i spent only few hours there, cant give any recomendations. For staying, you might want to check out Rising Dragon II in Hanoi. perfect services.

Have Fun!!!

Hanoi:
Old quarters, Huan Keim lake, new town area (like the HCM mausoleum, one pillar pagoda, etc)
Perfume pagoda (day tour)

HCM:
Mekong Delta (one or 2 day tour)
Market, Post office, reunification palace, The cathedral, etc...
China town.

THanks little alley for the recommendation and detailed review! =)
all your points will be taken care of. defintely will bring some goodies to give the little kids. =)

thanks shen shiung too.

i was planning to go SAPA, HALONG, HANOI, HCMC.

will be going to the places mentioned by little alley. need something that is off the tourist list to get abit of vietnam life.

I suggest you do a search on Muine

A very beautiful beach city. Very relaxing, no crowd. Has very beautiful scenery, there are some mini deserts and lakes nearby. there is also a fishing village in there, i think that would be good for cultural shots.

here are some pictures I took when I was there last december

Ic.
If you want something off tourist, Halong and HCM probably wont offer you any....
As for Hanoi, the old quarters is always a 'charming' place, but again too tourist to me actually.

For cultural Vietnam place, Hue, Ho An is a good choice. Though with tourist, but still retain the interesting sight.

Enjoyed a 14 days trip in South Vietnam 2 years ago. HCM is just limiting if you are looking for landscape. But, it will be a great place for markets, food stalls and little surprises.

Hoi An will be a nice place for something different. If you are adventurous enough, rent a bike and ride out of Hoi An where is paddy fields and tucked away treasure.

If you like something cultural architectural, maybe Hue. Then there is Can Tho in the Mekong Delta for the floating market. It is a nice experience, while passing the little canals and the amazing market with many fantastic photography opportunities.

Enjoy.

I agree on the interesting of Mekong delta. But again 'too touristy', as everyday many tourist flooded in and out that place. since TS wants something off tourist.

yah, thanks guys for suggestions. i have to agree with shen siung on mekong delta, i wont be heading there.
