I have always wanted to take a look at sample raw files on the net but can't seem to find any. I will hear stories about canon plastic look due to NR, some camera very noisy at high ISO, etc. But ultimately, the level of noise depends on how agressive the noise reduction is and it is hard to judge how much detail was lost. I think the best way to compare ISO performance is to use the RAW files and develop using ACR with ZERO noise reduction. Then you can see how much noise there are in the sensor.
