as above. just for protection. prefer cheap and decent which can get locally at various shops. currently using tokina for my 18-55mm. so would like to know are there any cheap and decent filter brands to try out other than tokina?

thanks. :)

Search function? I mean .. it's not a topic that only comes once a year like "DSLR in Winter time". Another hint: filters come in diameters, not for a specific lens of any brand.
In general: you get what you pay for, cheap and decent is a thin line. Too cheap is wasting money and risking quality, decent or good quality needs some cash. Main quality topic is flare resistance. Have a look at the price guides as first orientation, some good offers also in the Mass Sales section.

since u say u wan filter for protection purposes i would suggest u a lens hood would be a better choice as it wouldn't affect the IQ and it protect ur lens as well.
correct me if i wrong ...
