usb 2 cam on a usb 1.1 PC

just thinking about downloading images on a digicam supporting USB 2.0 into a PC using USB 1.1 . Can this be done or do I need a some kind of PCI USB card ? Any idea how much it will cost ? sorry for these simple questions...me a novice in computers

nope, you don't need anything. the digicam will just download @ USB1.1 speed instead of 2. so you'll just lose out on the extra speed. if you wanna take advantage of it, then yes you have to go get the PCI USB2.0 card. it's not very expensive if i not wrong... less than $100.

Thx for the prompt reply. is it the same thing happening if I were to connect a scanner or even an external CD-R using USB 2.0 to the USB 1.1 PC ?

yup, same for any USB2.0 device.
