Try using smaller apertures like F/8 onwards. (Use A mode.) It is to ensure you have enough depth of field to get faces in focus.

Try not using the extreme wide end of the zoom. Try about 24mm. There tends to be distortion at the widest end that can make faces look wierd.

Ok noted. :)

Hhaa.... i won't use that.. at least for a newbie like me ..

First I use AUTO BASIC Mode. then note down the Aper. / Ex. / ISO and other relevant setting.

Then change according and trial out.

AUTO Setting as below:
ISO :400
Shutter (tv) :1/60
Aperture (Av) : F4
Focal Length :18mm

f4 for shooting F4..using tat confirm ur front row sharp, back row not sharp..at least f8..

ISO: 100 or 200 (not too much noise)
Most important use f8 onwards (if there are many rows of people)
Camera mode: Manual (if using Av mode, your shutter speed may be too slow)
Shutter speed at least 1/40 - 1/60. (no need very high speed as they will not be moving around much)

Use tripod and arrange the group properly. Arrange in height, also get the rows behind to stand nearer to the front row.
