Imaging-resource Update on E-systems DSLR

Dp Now Hands on E-system DSLR

--------
The fourth and final big announcement at PMA comes from Olympus. Like previous announcements, I've got some camera previews to go along with it.

First, some news on the 4/3 digital SLR system being co-developed by Olympus, Fuji, and Kodak. A prototype will be shown at PMA -- though I don't have any pictures yet. The "real thing" will be announced in June and will ship in late 2003. Items to be shown at PMA include:

Camera body
Lenses
300 mm, F2.8 (600mm equivalent)
14 - 54 mm, F2.8 - F3.5 (28 - 108 mm equivalent)
50 mm macro, F2.0 (100 mm equivalent)
50 - 200 mm, F2.8 - F3.5 (100 - 400mm equivalent)
External flash unit
Power Battery Holder
Okay, now onto the cameras you can buy in the near future!

Cheers!
:D [

2x Focal Length Multiplier. This hints that the imaging area is less than 35mm, APS and current DSLRs but significantly larger than current digicams with 4.x FLMs.

Lens selection is good for most consumers, but still rather limiting on the Wide end.

duh... where the 35mm lenses coming from? Oly got no AF lenses... if 4/3 then still use 35mm glass then what' the new and smaller architecture? so stupid then...

is it:
fuji - colour profiles
kodak - electronics
oly - zuiko glass

Picture!!

It's supposed to be a new lens system. I'd think that the other partners will introduce their own versions soon. Anyway the 600mm f2.8 looks good.:p

Yeh.. Big FAN Zoom will love it.
Wonder if it still a 62mm Front thread..;(

Can use WCON 08B with the 14-54mm (28-108mm)
to get WA at 22mm then :p

"E-System"? Da replacement of E-xx?...

From the looks of it, definitely not...else you can create quite a monster with the Tcon14B & TCon300.

Not optimistic about this though....vignetting might be a problem. The WCON08B is designed for 35(.7)->28mm. It might not be wide enough for vignette-free 22mm even if the thread diameter of the new lens allows it.

Umm don't think they will replced E-XX ,
They are Building up new D-SLR Product Line---LENS is what they
aim to sell,Like Nikon-Canon,not only the Camra body.
That's Why Called it "E-System"
Haha No naming confusion with D1 1D 10D D100 :p
