Dear students,
As you may be aware, UNSW Asia will be closing at the end of session one 2007. Before making this decision, the University has explored an extensive range of options. However the enrolment numbers for 2007 did not meet our expectations, and this has caused us to revise our projections. The decision to close down is a difficult one but it is the prudent course of action to take.
I would like to reassure you that the welfare of our students is a priority. UNSW is committed to enabling all students at UNSW Asia to continue their studies with as little disruption as possible, whether in Sydney or Singapore, and has flown in a team of specialist advisers to work with local experts to help each student. Students will have the opportunity to email, phone and meet with these staff over the coming weeks to discuss the educational options available to them, and the ways in which the University can help students to realise their goals for university study.
Students who are enrolled at UNSW Asia in session one 2007 will be offered a place in an equivalent program at UNSW Sydney from session two 2007, and scholarships to help with travel and accommodation costs. Students who transfer to UNSW Sydney will receive full credit for the studies they have undertaken at UNSW Asia, and will retain credit for any advanced standing already granted. Tuition fees for these students will be set at the publicised UNSW Asia rates.
Those who have received offers to study at UNSW Asia in future sessions will have the offer of a place in their program at UNSW Sydney.
In addition, the University will work with those who are unable to accept a place in Sydney to meet their needs.
