Hello, ClubSnappers!

Many years ago, I bought a Taiyo TH-901 Universal Remote for use to control my Toshiba TV, only to have misplaced its instruction manual even before I programmed it:confused: I ended up buying another cheaper nameless Universal Remote with its serial number being RM-101. The latter worked for a long time, before it unexpectedly went 'ka-pUt!' just days ago. Note: I checked, it wasn't the battery at fault, just that it's time has come.

So! I dug out my Taiyo TH-901 Universal Remote, and tried ways on the Internet to look for instructions on how to set it up. Unfortunately, there weren't. Thankfully though, I managed to find the instructions booklet for my good 'ol trusty RM-101, and for some reason, it worked for my Taiyo too! I guess they don't call it 'universal' for nothing, eh?

I've decided to set-up this thread for the benefit of all universal remote users out there! To save everyone the woe and the $$$ from buying yet another universal remote for their TV/VCR/HIFI/VCD player/DVD player/etc, in the event that one misplaces the instruction manual :D

Instructions on how to set up / programme a universal remote:
1) See the code form and find the 3-digit figures for your device.
2) Press "SET" button and hold continuosly, then press the device select button (e.g. TV1, TV2, VCR, SAT, etc. If you are setting up for your TV, choose TV1) you want to control.
3) When the indicator light is on, release the two buttons simultaneusly.
4) Enter the 3-digit figure you have found.
5) When the indicator light goes out, programming is finished.
6) Check whether operation of other buttons is at normal state. If so, your setting is successfully accomplished.

Below is a list of the 3-digit code for a few more popular TV brands that are sold in Singapore. If you have a different device (e.g. VCR/LD/VCD/DVD/etc), and/or of a different brand, please do post your queries here, everyone can contribute and help one another ^0^ Here goes~!

Thats a very good and helpful post but unfortunately, not all universal remotes works the same way and are programmed differently. For me, I know that Sony and the hubstation remotes uses 4 digit codes and the codes listed here are different to what I got.

Those using Sony, Logitech or other branded remotes, can get help at remotecentral.com
