Hi Klause & Ralphi,

I am a newbie in here, and I am piqued by your same interest in Ubin island.

Well, personally I have already attempted to shoot Ubin over the past two weeks - and both attempts were met with rain, rain, and more rain. Also, some lightning.

The trip there for me is bum-achingly long - I live in Jurong Extension - and to finally arrive at Changi in the rain will only lead to a long expensive cab ride home without even squeezing off one lousy shot.

The weather has been abnormally wet at this time of year, I was thinking and betting on better conditions in June. But I know, this time when the sun does return, it will be as hot as hades. It is always the extremes in weather here in SG.

I feel like joing you guys, but I fear the weather will expectedly turn wet as the morning approaches noon, and I don't mean to douse your enthusiasm. As we can alll see, the rain comes mainly in the afternoon, and usually lasts till late afternoon or beyond.

Regards,

i also worried abt this too..but now Ubin is so commericalise that u see MANY MANY huts along the main road.

of cos bringing a large trash bag is a must, so that u can throw your camera related stuffs into the trash bag and carry in case of raining.

u all not going to cycle right?

Probably not cycling. Firstly we need to see weather. I stay @ Eastern area so I can predict the weather in advance(predict by going to SG Weather Station website).. hehe..

Hi Klause,

I do so yearn to shoot Ubin's rustic ambience, but the weather has played me well twice to date, weather monitoring or not.

Even if it comes down to just popping across and grab a few shots while the sun lasts, is not really economical unless we either have deep deep pockets, or our trips are subsidized by Nat Geo or the likes.

But we'd really be called die hards if we dare throw away our lives a few days to go over, and stay over in tents, and snap away in between sun breaks in weather.

It is extreme as an idea, but seems the only way to beat the weather. It is truly weathering the weather in every sense of the word.

Yah man, live to shoot only.....

Regards,

CJ

Hi Ralphi,

Haa...hahaaaaaa..haaa

You guys are a bunch of high spirited shutterbugs. And I love that ! Just as crazy and stubborn as I am !

Great. !

But when will this trip be taking place ? Friday ?

I don't know how my schedules are like, but I will give it a go if I don't get chained to my PC before Friday.

Also, I have noted that the island ( Ubin ) is swarmming with photographers of all genre. How interesting it is...

Regards,

CJ

meeting time: around 10am
location: either meet me and klause at tampines or the jetty

Err Guys,

Note that lightnings aren't to be shot at by inexperienced lightning photographers... you can potentially come back home with Phua Chu Kang's hair-do !!

Worst case scenario - can't return home after attempting to capture a lightning shot.

CJ

Hi Ralphi & Klause,

I am afraid I'll have to pass this round - I just received some new projects, so will be tied down tomorrow.

You guys go ahead and have some fun. I'll check back again with you guys in here for future trips.

Looks like I'm stuck with work *sob-sob*....

But as they say - no work no pay, no pay, no lenses & stuff...bleah bleah bleah...

Go ahead you guys - go get em bad weather or not. But please, don't be too gungho and go shooting lightnings....

Regards,

CJ :(

its okie spilot...well, we can always organise another one next week...in fact, i m already thinking of one...sheares bridge, chijmes, boat quay...??

:(

Hi Ralphi,

Sorry to hear that, the rain is indeed getting to a lot of us lately.

I'm sure it's gonna letup soon. It can't go on forever, the winds have got to change direction. And before we know it, we'd be cursing the heat again.

I look forward to peering through my viewfinder with my longsighted and bloodshot right eyeball again. So, sure I'd be keen to come along with you guys. And besides, Ubin won't be the Ubin that we know for long - oh God please don't let it become another Sentosa !!

Regards,

CJ
