Get a good portrait book, and understand the lighting used.

Remember that PS is optional. In the old days (with film), there was no such thing, so pictures were more "honest".

Set expectations right. Tell her this is not a makeover, or that you're not a makeover photographer.

I did one before... I did a basic portrait shoot...

1. find a spot with the company logo or something that represents your company.
2. if possible bring a small table and chair so she/he will be sitting on the chair and putting her/his had on the table
3. if not possible get him/her to stand and only take half or 1/3 body shot..
4. focus on him/her and the blur up (bokeh) the background (company logo or something that represents your company)

if the person is a lady, get her to wear makeup give the person more "life".. if a man at least a foundation or wipe the oil on the face especially the forehead... the reflection on the forehead may be distracting

1) get a good mua. stylist too if u can.
2) find a simple background. one with company identity if possible
3) most suggested non full length ones. but i think it cant be avoided. take a combinations of different cropping. avoid full on headshots and flat lighting. avoid shooting from top up. top down will reduce the person looking fat and domineering unless thats the way u want to portray her.
4) she should be sitting in the middle with the lackeys posing around her.

Ask her to dye her hair black and maybe go to saloon to seto it.

For head and shoulder shot use a telephoto lens 80 to 100 (in 35mm FF terms).

For full length choose a low angle (so she will seem taller) with 35mm (in 35mm terms)

Don't shoot straight on offset a little.

Ask he to dress in somthing dark coloured - black, purple - no colourful print dress please.

Minimal makeup and get he hair done. Ask he to wear her highest high heeled shoes (no boots).

The dress should be well fitting but not tight nor a bed sheet.
