Types of lens hood and it's uses??

Got a newbie question to ask about the type of lens hood

how many types of lens hood are there in the market and

are there specific uses for different type of hood???

can name the kind and list the use for... or issit all hood can be used for the same uses?

a lens hood is to act as a hood for the lens so as to block any stray light from entering the lens and thus causing lens flare. this is the primary purpose.

the secondary purpose is to be used as a buffer, just in case of accidents.
makes the lens look bigger
makes the photographer look more pro

different kinds of hoods are for different lenses, and they can't be use on one and other. Meaning, each lens has its own hood.

All kinds of hoods serve only one purpose; to avoid flare/ghost.

oh yah, just to add on... some lenses come with hood when u purchase them, other have to buy it seperately. There're also thrid party ones.

some lens hoods is aslo use as sq filters, mask holders, those are bellow type, we call it professional lens hood or compendium Lens Hood.
