you guys knw tat FZ/20 is rather heavy and when it sits on my current tripod it slanted at the head creating picture.. you guys got any recommendation ? not to expensive maybe not over $100 ? possible? budget rather tight...

read the lumix FAQ under the topic tripod and got limited choice...

so any help here?

there's the Nikon Pro tripod that come free with every D70s purchase. Luckily i was quoted $90 for the tripod, but bear it mind, it's quite a heavy one with a ball head...

Get a SLIK tripod.. cheap and good..

ermmm....wanna ask something....have any of u guys out there ever heard of Digipod SL1400 tripod?.....is it a good tripod?.....how much is it?:)

think most stable tripods comes at a price, yah so far the cheapest will be the ones that comes with the purchase of DSLRs i guess, my combi of manfrotto 055 and ballhead RC484 cost ard 200 if my memory dun fail me

but RC484 supports to 6 kg only, suits my Fz5 + Tcon-17 combo well enuf, for Fz20 might need stronger ball head liao = more $$$

Yes manfrotto. If u got money, go for gitzo. Hee...

Anyway, manfrotto is more then enuff for what u want ;)

The free nikon tripod is it the one with the 'clip on' lock machanism instead of the 'turning lock' ?

Just a rule of thumb.....the tripod must weigh at least the same or more than the camera...else not so stable as it will be top heavy....

Manfrotto is also a gd choice.. dun u think getting a Gitzo is abit overkill for a FZ/20 which doesn't even cross more than 600g??

The ballhead allows you to quickly twist turn rotate and lock and fire. While the standard pan and tilt is horizontal pan and up and down tilt.. not so maneuverable (pardon spelling).

For my FZ-20, I had a Slik Sprint Pro. That was really light weight and work well, however, do look around for the models that have the support at the centre column.

my setup is almost same as Master Ricky...

Slik Sprint Pro.. and i add a 330 DX pan head.. still ok.. can tilt to 90 degree all round..

STILL stable lah..

tried adding a TCON in front, STILL ok also...

It's true when u have the $$ u can get watever u want.. but the thread starter has said it very clearly that the budget is not more than $100.

probably giving a more relevant answer would be more constructive.. :)

i m jus posting some links cos mayb others may 1 2 check them out. 1 has 2 do comparision 2 kno y some costs more. its betta 2 hav more options dan less.;p

ballhead operates faster as 1 adjustes 2 axis at a time.

pan & tilt adjustes oni either at any 1 time.

as 4 1 tt supports centre column, i nv come across any1 tt does not... unless we're refering 2 off-centre centre column by Gitzo Explorer & Giottos Inovator (did i spell it rite:think: ?), or low angle adaptor?
