Hi again!

Thanks for all the advice for the Tripod legs.

Now that decided on the tripod legs(Feisol CT-3401 - A 4 section leg set). I still need recommendation for the most important part, The Head.

Budget around $200 or lower, prefers ballhead and Quick release.

Thanks in advance!

Ultimately over your budget...

hehe...

for a normal ballhead, think get those 488 will do, if u feel richer then get those markins etc...

I have a 488RC2 before, just sold it away. Its quite heavy right? Aiyah, Over my budget, dun suggest lah....wait tempted how? Pocket going to have a big hole!

How about FOBA Superball? Its still around $200+($275) Can hold Canon 70-200 f2.8L?

hi read ur PM. i frankly dun recommend it for use w/ heavy stuff. it dun hav tension adjustments, if accidentally loosen it will come crashing down.

Wah....FOBA so not happening one ah! Jia Lat....Any other option within my budget?:dunno:

I think you are referring to the superball M-1 which has no tensioning.

The FOba Superball and mini superball has a tension adjustment. But definitely more than $200.

This is a mind-bloggling process....I actually have some doubts about Feisol now after searching the net for reviews....

Anyone out there using one already? With 488RC2 or FOBA Superball M-1?

No lah, I prefer to buy one that last forever. My 190Pro with 488RC2 was perfect until recently when I saw too many CF tripods...ha ha....

used the Acratech b4.
did not really like it.

therefore decided to sell off the Acratech & keep my Markins M10.

can also look at Kingponrouch (not sure if spelling is right)

I am using the 3401 and 488RC2 (also has 0550pro and 322, but first 2 combi is better for travelling - also dun why many recommended me 322 is good travelling??? bulky and not that fantastic)

Already briefed you my feedback already.

Now looking for M10 or RRS BH40. (ideally I want M10 +RRS lever release). Think BH40 is good for travelling....

BTW, 488RC2 'shifts' when tighten. Give you that 'Alamak' feeling when doing macro. (again if can reverse time, I will not buy this head - it is not here not there head, IMHO)

After making a few wrong buys - lesson learnt for me: dun do half measure. Should have stick with what you have, and save enough for the one you want. Or else everyday you will be reading and reading and then sell and buy and then...

Why not increase yr budget a little bit more and buy a kangrinpoche head. They are slighty cheaper in terms of prices as compared to Markins and performs equally on par.

YOu dun get it, do you? No branded stuff lah, the Acratech looks fragile and Markin looks like 488RC2. I think 488RC2 is tougher.
