hmmm, don't think you should have started this thread here... perhaps you could start this at the kopitiam threads:)

Plenty of Areas to photograph @ downtown Sydney

a) Circular Quay (ferry point)
b) Sydney Opera House
c) Sydney Harbor Bridge
d) Milsons Points (Luna Park)
e) Darling Harbor
f) National Maritime Museum (Old sailing ship / submarine / frigate / lighthouse vessel)
g) The Rocks
h) Sydney Aquarium

You could also take a 15 min ferry ride to Mosmon Bay - beautiful cove with houses & boats in the bay. Balmain East, I think will give u a good view of the office high rise in Sydney. Alternatively if u have steady hands, u could snap away on the ferry.

Hope this helps for a start :)

my 1 cent opinion:

Watson Bay
Manly Beach
The train stations (outskirts)
Newcastle Beach is nice too ( im from University of Newcastle:bsmilie:)
Botanic garden, if u dun sick of botanic garden...
The Hay market
Blue mountain
The Olympic Park
many more...

A feeble shot that I have taken on a floating platform using a FZ50:

Been there few times and still got excited by the photo opportunity.

Places mentioned above is a must go.

Do you have driving license? Rent a car and drive around Sydney and it's suburb... You'll encounter hundreds if not thousands photo opportunity...

My two cents...

Thanks all, can't wait to be there :p

yes, i also thought road trip (but m'sia can drive there? , no time for me to convert to international already)
Huh...

i would suggest taking a day trip to the Blue Mountains

btw, email me your contacts, i pass u a discount card for 50% breakfast at Blue Fish seafood restuarant @ Darling Harbour. their food is quite good & wine too. u can sit outside & face the bridge, quite solid view. the card got no expiry date so very usable & worth it. i paid Aus$80 for my dinner & they gave me this card, of course under company expense ... ;)

but their breakfast is very affordable.

Huh...

You can get the international Driving Permit in your local AA office. Usually you can wait during proccess... Just show your current Driving License.

For some less visited places - car needed:
Kangaroo Valley
Jervois Bay
Fish and Chips plus good pics at Manly Beach - do the Spit to Manly walk
Do some street photography and eat the world's best "Pho" at Cabramatta

Based on my recollection... u can walk and climb up one of the towers on Harbour Bridge for a nice view of the city and Opera House. Also, from the Opera House, you will have a nice view of the Harbour Bridge. '

Go walk around The Rocks for some street market scene, as well at the Paddy's market (chinatown area iirc). Go to Bondi and shoot some beach scene, surfing etc.

Hmm... all of the above plus if you love stained glass, pay a visit to St Mary's Cathedral, located opposite Hyde Park. It also has a well kept crypt.

Happy a-clickin' :D
