For anyone planning a visit, it's a rather eerie drive once the sun sets. We drove on dark roads before, but knowing the big salt flats beside you in the dark just adds a sense of uneasiness.

Death Valley's a prime spot for stargazing and astro photography if there's no moon. (If it's a full moon, Mesquite Sand Dunes are beautiful at night)
