Transferring from CF to Thumbdrive w/o Laptop on site

I have been receiving requests from many clients to transfer images after my shoot to their thumbdrive or external hard disk so that they could select some images out for their publications, or for use in the internet media. Other than bringing along a laptop which can be quite cumbersome, is there a device that allows me to plug in my CF card to transfer to the client's thumbdrive or external hard disk?

Look into portable memory card backup devices. You're looking at an outlay of S$3-500. For slightly more, I think a small netbook will offer a better interface for selecting and transferring images. I'm not sure how easy it will be to select and transfer selected images on such devices with small screens, but I think it'll be much faster and efficient with a much larger screen on a netbook.

Thanks. These are portable storage drives. I used to have a Nexto DI and trashed it since the battery is always giving me problems. Does these portable storage devices allow me to copy direct to client's thumbdrive?

You have to look for a model that supports that.

Didn't know a product like this existed, looks interesting. Downside is that it looks like this product hasn't been updated since it was launched in 05/06. USB 1.1 and it may not be in stock anymore.

That said, there seem to be a couple of variations of that product. Search for "OTG Photo & Data Transfer Bridge".

I also have the nexto n I think a portable battery charger should solve the problem. Will be getting a 10K version when I need for my trip.
