About David Teo
David Teo is a street / documentary photographer based in Singapore. Since discovering photography in 2001, besides working a full time job, David has also also became a freelance photographer, specialising in wedding and events, but it is the field of documentary photography which David devoted a large part of his time telling stories visually, photographing among others, “The Last Train”, showing the disappearance of the KTM railway in Singapore, “Under a crescent moon” which documented Muslims in Singapore after 9/11 and “Innocence Lost”, a look at life in Little India.

After the events of the Great Eastern Earthquake of 2011, David made a solo trip to Japan in 2012, and it was on the streets of Tokyo that he re-discovered himself, revelling in every fleeting dreamlike, whimsical scene that presented itself to him, and enthralled by the flurry of activity on the streets played out in the theatre on the streets. Since then, David has made a total of 6 personal trips by himself to Tokyo and other parts of Japan, and in a country which has seen so much tragedy and violence, he found peace and healing in Japan.

David’s first solo exhibition “Tokyo Dreaming” opened in Dec 2012. He was also involved in a group exhibition “A Collective" at the Leica Gallery in Singapore in 2013, and in 2014, his work “Innocence Lost”, documenting life on the streets in Little India, was selected as part of Platform’s +50 project to celebrate the 50th birthday of Singapore, and will be featured in the +50 gallery at the end of 2015.

He is currently working on self publishing a book on Tokyo Dreaming.
