I seen a lot of good comments for Tamron 28-75 but seldom for Tokina 28-80. does anyone compare these 2 before? I am considering to buy either one. I mainly consider the sharpness :) Thanks advance for help :)
I am a D70 guy :)

i used to be a proud owner of Tokina 28-80 2.8 on an F80 body. The good optics, fast enough AF and tank-like built make this an ideal 3rd party lens. Too bad i sold mine since i was very new to protography then and i felt that it was too heavy for common use and now i regret my decision :dunno:

btw, why not consider buying a Nikon lens instead.

Thanks for your prompt info :)
Nikkor lens for sure is the best, but not for the money :) my budget is <1000 to get a sharp and fast lens.
Tamron and Tokina are my current choice. I tested Tamron, good sharpness, but the builld a bit disappointed. Tokina's build better, but dont know how is the sharpness ....

if u are talking about the atx pro version.... tokina i can vouch for... i own a pro 2,,,,in fact....all my zooms are tokinas coz i simply love the build.....

from wat i know....
tokina will be a little heavier, AF slower, less warm
tamron will be lighter a bit AF faster and more warm
sharpness....i believe both can match with nikon
