Hi, im interested to take lightning shots and was amazed by some of the shots taken by fellow csers. I would like to ask if there any tips for these shots. E.g what kinda of area best to take, obviously we cant stand in the open space? Shd we be on high ground like multi storey carparks? etc etc....pls share your experiences? Thx.

1. There is no best area. u have to look out for where the storm is coming from. if u spot a lightning, most prob more is coming..

2. High ground is good but very dangerous!! its quite difficult to get a good lightning shot with clear foreground in Singapore. I stay on the 13th floor facing Mt Faber & Sentosa. i do spot a few cool lightning here and there. http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=564839

**these shots were taken w/o a tripod, without shutter release on my window ledge. u can see some movement :(

3. use tripod, slow shutter speed, continuous shooting. if there is lightning activity, you'll get some decent shots.

4. Patience...

5. Safety first, safety always!

yeah.. y not.. i use different SS bro.. sometime i use 5s sometime i use 10s.. bulb may work too.. otherwise, set to cont shooting, lock your shutter on the release cable.. come back aft 5 min to see if u gt any decent shots.. (doing this will bust your shutter lol)
