Yup.. in the linux/unix world.. a hacker is used to describe someone who modifies others codes to achieve other/more objectives.

The good hackers are termed white hats & bad hackers are termed black hats.
There are also plenty of seminars etc for white hat hackers.

The term hacker is actually a positive one. They are software engineers who are suppose to find bugs in programs. Cracker is the negative opposite.

Hey man, u ever heard of the term 'phishing'?

Jsbn is right. He may not be the guy. It could be someone else doing it using his identity. It may even be a simple keylogger that is running on her pc. Just reformat it and secure the pc with the latest patch and also anti-spyware, anti-virus, firewall etc.
