Astonishing Burj Dubai Opening Fireworks Will Boggle Your Mind

Forget about any Olympics inauguration ceremonies or any Fourth of July: The Burj Dubai is the tallest building in the world, and it got the highest fireworks too for its opening ceremony. So colossal you'll think they are destroying it.

The tower—which officially is 2717 feet tall (828 meters)—was inaugurated today, and the developers launched it with all they got. The people who attended the ceremony couldn't stop cheering in awe. I don't blame them. Watch the whole video to see the lighting effects just before the final fireworks. They look designed by aliens.

AMazing what $$ can do!!

What do you do with US$10 billion worth of taxpayer funded cash and investments to bail you out from bankruptcy? You arrange a multi-million dollar fireworks display and rename the world's highest skyscraper in honour of your saviour.

I wouldn't be surprise if the skyscraper only exist as an empty shell well into the future.

those guys from the no-tripod-sheares-bridge-post should be taking pics of this firework.

What's the use even if it is the tallest, biggest, grandest. If the space are left empty.

it would be a great day for singapre if one day there is our own very tall skysraper that is so high that it is visible from KL Petronas Twin Tower

it will be funny if the fireworks burned down the building. ouch.

wow.....there's air of jealousy :dunno:

Only time will tell......

I will move out of singapore. Usually not long after a super tall building is built, economy will go down. I see that pattern. I am not alone.

Sadly most people see life as a battle and winning
is very important to them. The taller you go, the
faster you come down.

Everything made by man is temporary for it can
be destroyed either by nature or by fellow human
beings. The aliens will not want to do anything
for it is insignificant to them.

The warning is good thoughts for those who treat
life as a battle.

:(:(:(

AngMOhs zero in on the foolish man at the top who thinks that he wants to show how rich, powerful, etc..... he is by building unnecessary and unsustainable mega projects.

The Biggest...in the world
The Tallest....in the world
The ......

But why?

By the way the "ship" from far away (frontal sea view) looks to have a large Christian Cross in it. hmm...maybe designers pulled a fast one on the silly top man.

So we have silly unsustainable residences purposely built out to the sea. Who wants to stay there now?
Is it necessary?
Are these sustainable?
Are these easy to maintain?

It is sad.

Previously the European powers conquer the third world by force and colonise them.
Now they con the silly top men in these places and make them spend faboulous fortunes doing silly unsustainable things.

But they are not alone.
In the 1980s when Japan was super rich. They suffered the same megalomania.
They constructed Kansai airport in the sea. (oh.. oh.. angmoh designer again) Now it is a constant battle to fight against sinking into the sea.
http://www.japaninc.com/article.php?articleID=1181

"but after construction the rate of sinking was considered so severe that the airport was widely criticized as a notorious geotechnical engineering disaster. The rate of sinking has since fallen from 50 cm (20 in) during 1994 to 7 cm (2.8 in) in 2008"
