seriously? your's is the only one that lacks a strong message of a bonding between young and old. i can't see that in your picture at all.

and canvassing for votes here? definitely not gonna get mine.

This was a family day at the Marina Barrage where the old and young were having a picnic at the open space. Look at the whole scene of the photo and you can see many of them having a great time playing together. So you are saying you can't see any bonding between them, come on.

not saying that i can't see. but compared to the rest, your FOV was so wide that the old people in the background are not that noticeable. to me, your's is actually the image that portrays the theme the weakest.

look carefully at the depth of your frame. the girl stands out because she's in the foreground. i see no interaction between old and young. just people running around. and i can barely pick out who are the old ones and the old ones.

oh well... if you win based on Facebook likes, then i have nothing to say.

I trust the good judgement of the panel of judges and glad that they like my image, and deem it good enough to be shortlisted. And that to me, matters the most. At the end of the day, they are the ones (not the facebook likes) to decide the winners of this contest.

BTW, a good photography is not judged by the theme alone but a host of other elements such as originality, artistic expression, good lighting, balanced composition, perfect exposure, visual impact, sharpness, eye catching colour etc etc etc

Yes i want to clarify with kei that it is indeed base on judges not fb 'likes'. And yes those 20 entries is indeed choosen from thousands of entries and should hv some elements that the judges see in it. But i dont agree what u said about a good photography is not judged by the theme alone. If you want to go contest u should follow what they give u. If the theme is active ageing for example but u sent in a photo show a old man or lady laying on the hospital bed. Maybe the pic really can show the suffering he or she in but it is not what they want....so relevant to the theme is also very important. Good skill dont mean that u can anyhow shoot and sent and think that you can win. Thx

Thank you for your clarification.

Of course the theme is very relevant in a contest but all I'm saying is that there are also many other aspects that are worth to be taken into consideration. You are citing an extreme case which is really out of context.
