Might want to look at the Tokina 90/2.8 macro as well (much cheaper), that is, if you are seriously into macro photography.

the sigma 105mm Macro EX is not bad either! ;)

i shoot with my 35mm F2 90% of the time,5% using my 24mm for tableshots and another 5% for my 80-200mm F2.8 zoom for tight shots.:D

Minolta user... 50mm 1.7 is my main lens nowadays. If I need longer ranges then I attach my 70-200/4, but... nowadays the camera I lug along.... is a fixed lens 45mm Minolta 7s rangefinder.

Wish i had a 24mm for my slr :(

Depends on which system i use. For Nikon, it will be mostly zoom for convenience sake (except for one FM2n with a AI 50/1.8 for weight saving trips or low-llight work). For Contax, i only have primes.

If I ever use my Nikon F100, I mostly use the Nikkor 1,4/50 or the 1,8/85 even though I have the 2,6-2,8/28-70mm Tokina ATX Pro and the Nikkor 2,8/80-200mm (which both are not bad).

But most of the time I use a Pentax 67II with 2,8/90, 2,4/105 and Macro 4/135.
I soon will have the 2,8/75 for this cam which is great... :cheergal:

togo

How about this for a low-light condition fast prime... NOCT-Nikkor 58mm f/1.2 AIS. ;)

i shoot primes exclusively!

Love the BIG aperture size, and i don't need the zoom, because my pair of legs is the best, free-from-fungus zoom lens! ;)

Currently having a Minolta 50mm 1.7 (Now looking for the 1.2 version!)
and borrowed a 24mm 2.8 from a friend.

I used to shoot zoom exclusively, but now I have switched 180 degree and shoot in prime exclusively (35mm, 50mm ,60mm, 85mm). I feel the prime lenses give a better colour and contrast images, and they are smaller and lighter on my neck.

Just aquired myself the 85mm f1.8 and 50mm 1.8 primes
both excellent primes

http://www.pbase.com/nawoo/chinese_new_year_show

All the pictures there were shot with the 85mm prime wide open!!

Don't even need sharpening in photoshop at all!

Superb

I intend to sell my 70-200 f4l and just get the 200mm 2.8 prime and maybe the 135 f2 prime.

I'm going prime all the way man!

It's a cycle....

I used to shoot canon primes;
24mm 2.8
50mm 1.8
85mm 1.8
200mm 2.8
300mm 4L IS
400mm 5.6L

Now only L zooms...

maybe when I get older...

Just one camera with one lens Noctilux 50/f1.0. Can't afford second lens.

When macro work, I use exclusively Nikkor 105/2.8
When portraiture, I use NIkkor 85/1.4

otherwise streetshoot alternate 10.5 with 12-24 on D100

I use 50mm 1.8 n 20mm 2.8 most often. got zoom lens but rarely use.

not surprised... considering the $$$ of the noctilux! But seriously, how do you find this lens? What body are you using it with?

I use the 24/2.8, 50/1.8 and 105/2.8 all the time :D They aren't really light weightwise, considering that I can replace all three with 1 zoom, but my pocket isn't really up to getting a pro-level constant aperture zoom...
