for close-up & portraits shooting only, EX25 is not required.
Unless you are interested in macro photography - shooting of insects like spiders etc.
The combination of EX25 and 50mm macro lens will give you an extended maximum image magnification; 0.98 times.

Hi! Digitalbuff
Thank you for starting this thread and an opportunity to share my learning experience with fellow clubsnap members.
I started shooting insects in early 2005 as my passionate past-time during the weekend
For those who are interested in macro shooting (dragonfly, butterfly, moth and bugs) here's my contribution

For equipment & set-ups

Camera body: E300

These are few popular locations
1) Alexandra Hosptial butterfly Trails
2) Sentosa Butterfly Park
3) Fragile Forest in Mandai Zoo

Hope it helps you to start shooting this weekend.
Cheers,

Hmm just very curious here, do you guys mount the cameras on tripods, so that it's really stable to take a sharp shot? Or hand-held all the way, which makes sense because we're hunting little insects?

thanks for taking the time to share... very good reference for us new birds.

Hi! Digitalbuff
You are most welcome.
By the way, you are definitly not one of the new birds in photography.
Your E1 camera has produced many great picutres in your Pbase gallery.
and just like you, I'm also one of the supporters for 4/3 system since Dec 04
Cheers,

Test shot of dried flowers... not sure why not very sharp. I used tripod with aperture at 8 or 11.

Since you are already using a tripod, might as well use a smaller aperture like f/16 to get greater depth of field.
I took these at f/16 aperture and the depth of field was barely enough (as in #1).

1) Olympus C750 + Canon 250D Closeup lens + Slave Flash
2) Insects
3) Gardens like Botanic Gardens and Alexandra Hospital Gardens

Canon 500D closeup lens is a closeup +2 diopter filter. Of course you need a step down ring from 77mm to 72mm ...
